Brisbane Airport’s A$45 million International Terminal redevelopment has been officially opened this month by Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister.
“This project was completed on time and on budget without any major disruptions to passengers or operations due to a focused and collaborative approach by all. Everyone associated with the project is to be commended. Not one detail has been overlooked and the result is outstanding.” Julieanne Alroe, Brisbane Airport Corporation CEO and Managing Director
The new International Terminal has already been recognised with the Queensland Property Council Award for Excellence in Design. It has broken the usual ‘airport mould’. Innovare Design’s 1,600sqm Departures and 800 sqm Arrivals stores for client JR/Duty Free started trading in September 2014, and passenger spend rate is already up +17% over the same period.
The Departures store complements the terminal’s open-air sense of place and personality with the central design feature being a large parasol structure. Local products are to the fore with a major installation from Queensland rum distiller Bundaberg, a strong assortment of Australian wines and destination merchandise choices.
The team at Innovare Design are obviously thrilled to have partnered JR/Duty Free in this commercial success story. Since 2012 we’ve been working with JR/Duty Free on tender victories and major redevelopments at Perth, Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin and Tel Aviv airports.
